About the Book
How to Survive as a College Freshman !
Did you know almost half the students who start college don't graduate in four years! And, many of those don't ever graduate at all. As college students, we were really unhappy when we heard this, because, under ordinary circumstances, college can be great.
Not only do you learn things when you aren't loaded down with life's other big responsibilities, but you make super friends for life. On top of that, college is actually fun!
But, it's not that way for everyone. And, when we looked into WHY, we found out it's usually those first few weeks in school that students find the hardest. That's when most of them drop out, as well.
"Well, hey, we can do something about this," We thought. And, so this little project was born.
First, we got together with all our college buds; and they wrote down everything important they learned the hard way, when they first got to college.
Then, we met with a bunch of college-bound freshmen and said, "Okay, tell us what you'd like to know." Last, we put everything together and took our stuff to the colleges.
Well, we were just sure they wouldn't be thrilled with parts of it. (You know, where we tell you the inside scoop on not signing up for classes at 8 a.m. in the morning if you have a hard time getting up? Didn't know you could do that? Yep.That's one of the best ways to stack the deck in your favor!)
But, the colleges we talked to were enthusiastic. They really were concerned that their students not only make it, but do well. And, they told us to go ahead and tell you what we thought you needed to knowfrom our point of view, of course!
Not only that, but they even inserted our little "jewel" into their orientation kits for several years. That showed they really meant what they said, we thought.
